Credit repair procedure
The Fair Credit Reporting Act of 1978 allows you to contest negative marks. You want to be able to contest any Mark that’s on your credit report. The procedure in general is this:
Get a copy of your credit reports
Highlight one mark that is negative
Dispute the mark saying that it is not accurate and is highly interest to your credit report and your credit rating
Sign with identifying information such as driver’s license number Social Security date of birth
Send certified mail with notice given to you that they sign for it
Track the letter, they have 30 days from the date that they sign for it to respond
On the 30th day, send them another certified letter saying that they’ve had enough time and you demand that they delete the negative mark or you will complain to the Federal Trade Commission
This process takes time but usually after 4 or 5 months you credit report is much better.
